Monthly Mission Focus – Trinity Haven

Did You Know?

  • LGBTQ+ youth and young adults are 120% more likely to experience homelessness than their heterosexual or cisgender peers.
  • Nearly 70% of LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness have been rejected by their families because of their sexual orientation or gender identity, most forced out by their parents or fleeing mistreatment at home.
  • 28% of LGBTQ youth report experiencing homelessness or housing instability at some point in their lives.

What is Trinity Haven?

  • Located in Indianapolis, Trinity Haven is Indiana’s first and only housing program providing safe, affirming housing for LGBTQ+ youth experiencing housing instability.

  • An independent 501(c)(3), Trinity Haven offers two housing programs.
o The Transitional Living Program is a 24-month program providing a welcoming congregate home.
o The Host Homes Program is a 6-month program providing short-term housing.

  • Trinity Haven’s goal is to help young people graduate from these programs into safe and stable permanent housing with improved life skills, a bigger social network, and the ability to thrive.
