Mercy Is Better Than Fairness
Jonah is reluctant to do what God calls him to do because he doesn’t want God to be merciful to the people of Nineveh. Jesus tells a story along the same lines about workers who resent people being paid enough to live on even though they didn’t work the entire day. Between fairness and mercy God chooses mercy.
