Kody Emrich

Director of Emerging Ministries

I grew up in a small town in Indiana by the name of Reynolds. I graduated from North White High School and then attended Franklin College, majoring in Music. I specialized in voice and guitar, while always doing what I could to learn more new instruments. Shortly after college, I accepted a position at HoneyRock Christian Camp which consisted of living alongside 13 high school graduates and helping them to gain spiritual discernment and learn where God is calling them to be.

I have felt called to ministry since I gave my life to Christ in 2010 at Epworth Forest Church Camp. Since then I knew I wanted to lead worship, and I began my musical pursuits. I have interned at two different churches as an intern worship director, Monticello United Methodist as well as here at St. Mark’s! I love to use my God-given gifts to create an atmosphere that anyone can enter to encounter God.

My wife, Megan and I have been married for a year and have always wanted to use our marriage as a platform for ministry. God has truly blessed us with a heart to lead others to Him, and we are so excited that we have the opportunity to do so here at St. Mark’s.

In my free time, I love to spend time with my wife, record music, play video games, go to the gym, and just be creative!

Favorite Movie: Forrest Gump
Favorite Book: Anything with dragons, magic and high fantasy. (Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter are both great examples)
Favorite Sports Team: Carolina Panthers (NFL)
Favorite Vacation Destination: Saugatuck, Michigan.
Favorite Local Restaurant/coffee shop: We are new to Indianapolis, but so far our favorites are Puerto Vallarta and Bee Coffee.

Why work for St. Mark’s UMC?

St. Mark’s creates a space where all are invited to experience Christ’s love. There also plenty of missions and opportunities to serve and grow!

What is your most memorable moment to-date at St. Mark’s UMC?

My most memorable experience was the first time that I got to lead the Current service in worship when I was still an intern.

What most excites you about the future of St. Mark’s UMC?

I am excited to see how God moves through not only the staff here but also the congregation.
